Apes Pick: 12 Monkeys



Why I picked this film: I wanted to pick a film that I remember being interesting and one that Beeps hasn't seen. I chose this film because I remember it being interesting, wasn't sappy, and might interest Beeps. Besides I like re-watching films to see if they lose something in subsequent viewings. 

Beeps:  If I were rating a film solely on the acting portrayed therein, I would be forced to give this movie 4+ stars.  Brad Pitt and Bruce Willis are nothing short of brilliant as they struggle with their sanity in this movie.  However, acting alone cannot save a movie.  I found the film itself to be merely o.k.  I admit, I did look at my watch a few times during the film, as I felt it to be a bit long winded, but hey, I have A.D.D. that's to be expected right?  I do like the fact that it's a film that can be discussed and different people may have different interpretations.  I also liked the repetition of certain elements throughout the film, as the viewer works on unraveling the puzzle.  I do have to question if the payoff was really worth the wait?  Worthy of a viewing, if only to see the performances turned in by Willis and Pitt.  2 1/2 stars.

Apes: I still really enjoyed this film. It is weird, interesting, and well acted. However. its about 30 to 45 minutes too long! Brad Pitt is GENIUS in this role and Bruce Willis does a great job. The plot is bleh, big virus, end of man kind, psychos, but not as Sci-Fi or as action as I would like.The movie loses some of its charm in subsequent viewings. I still think it is worth the watch for the acting and intrigue, but overall its just a 2 1/2 star film.
